A DAY ESPECIALLY FOR MUSEUMS

Saturday, May 19, 2012
International Museums Day

May 19-21, All weekend long

For the whole May long weekend we are celebrating International Museums Day. We may be a fun attraction with lots to see and do but we are still a Museum after all. Get a sneak peak at some of the artefacts in our collection that almost never come out on display. There will be cool object talks throughout the day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Free for members or with regular admission.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Tuesday, June 05, 2012
3:00pm in the historic Machine Shop

Members and guests are invited to attend our AGM on June 5th. This is an exciting opportunity to hear about projects and upcoming activities and developments at the Museum.

FAMILY TRIPLE BLAST DAY

Sunday, June 17, 2012
Whole family fun, 10am to 4pm

A day filled with old time fun.

The Family Triple Blast Day at the Britannia Mine Museum falls on Fathers Day and is a day not to be missed.

There will be activities throughout the day. Gold panning races will determine who has the worst (best?) case of gold fever. Face painters will be on hand to turn anyone into a real miner (or something else). Bring your dad, bring your son, just don't miss this fun day.

Free for members or with regular admission.

DRUM MAKING WORKSHOP

Saturday, June 23, 2012
1pm with Tsawaysia Spukwus

Drum making workshop with Tsawaysia Spukwus of the Squamish Nation. Go home with a traditional drum that you have made yourself, complete with drumstick and everything you need to play it.

The workshop complete with song, story-telling and tradition is not only a beautiful glimpse into Squamish Nation culture but also a fun, hands-on activity. Click here. for more information.

Making your own sacred drum begins a journey - as you have recreated the sacred musical instrument of ‘Spirit’.

$150 for the afternoon workshop. $20 off for members. Museum admission included. Book your spot, skerr@bcmm.ca, 604 896 2233 ext. 244

10th ANNUAL COPPER & FIRE

Sunday, August 12, 2012
All day arts festival with music, 10am to 4pm

Our annual celebration of art this year is going to be the best one yet. Copper & Fire is turning 10 years old!

There will be live music throughout the day on our outdoor stage. Artists will be here showing off their works and demonstrating their craft. There will be hands-on workshops and demonstrations throughout the day.

All of this is based on art that uses materials from the earth. Try to think of art that doesn't rely on mined materials. Glass, pottery, stone, metal, even many kinds of paint pigments all come from the ground.

Free for members or with regular admission.
