In October last year I posted on the arrival of the resin-encased elements for our newest classroom display: Elemental.
Today, the Elemental panel was installed. Students participating in ‘What Use are Minerals to Me?’ will now have the opportunity to safely handle elements such as chlorine gas and mercury while exploring how minerals that contain them are vastly different in their properties.
This display also brings a new element (pun intended) to our classroom – hidden displays. We have wanted to add displays that require action on the part of user to reveal objects for a while. Beneath this display are three drawers that reveal how minerals that are similar in composition are vastly different.
