Who: Megan (rhymes with "vegan")
Role: Interpreter and Gift Shop
What brought you to Britannia Mine?
We moved from Whistler to Squamish. I used to do historical tours in Whistler and also worked with kids. I drove by Britannia and thought, "I need to work there". I came in and the rest is history.
You see tourists from all over the world. What countries have you encountered?
A lot of people from Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, Denmark. I especially like when people from The Netherlands come in because my in-laws are Dutch. I know a few things in Dutch so I get to say dankjewel or thank you and tot ziens which is like see you later.
What's your favourite part of working here?
My favourite part of working here is sharing the story of the mine, and the history of it, with people from all over the world. Not just as an Interpreter, but also in the gift shop. I always say, working in admissions and gift shop, it's like bookends. I get them in the beginning and get them all set up for their tour, and then I see them at the end and ask them how it was. When I'm an Interpreter, I'm the middle part. I enjoy both and meeting people from all over.
