Sometimes ideas come along which are inspired and the Squamish Library has implemented one such idea this week. The idea is simple. Instead of taking out a book from the library, card holders can now take out a family pass to the Museum.
When we were approached about the idea recently, we immediately sprang on board. This program is one way to enhance financial accessibility to visitors, particularly those local to us. As a non-profit with no core funding, admissions revenues are critical to maintaining our open doors, yet we are looking for ways to make the Museum accessible to others. This community-minded program seemed a perfect fit.
The new pass was launched at the Library's Open House on October 15, 2015. Card holders can withdraw it for one week, using it as often as they like in that week. It gives free admission for up to two adults and three children. The equivalent of a regular admission, it gives full access to everything on site including the guided underground tour, exhibits and gold panning.
