Twenty years ago, the idea of salmon in the Britannia Creek would sadly have probably been unthinkable. The contaminated waters from the abandoned Britannia Mine left the local creek lifeless. Yet since the EPCOR Britannia Mine Water Treatment Plant came online in 2005, this river, once dubbed the most polluted river in Canada has seen a remarkable turnaround - one the local community, the Museum and the province is thrilled to watch happen.
Check out this segment from Global TV on just how well the river is now doing.
For groups wanting to see the cleanup in action, we run tours to the water treatment plant's discovery centre.
