Call for Participant Proposals - Visual Artists

Call for Participant Proposals – Visual Artists

Application Deadline: August 5th, 2022

The Britannia Mine Museum utilizes this statement to engage our communities in mining and the materials it supplies us. This holds true for essentially everything in our lives including
art. The arts are the perfect means to convey the connections between mined materials and our lives. One of the goals of this event is to reveal the connections between the artists’ visions and the materials required to achieve
them.

Please note that this event will take place in the Machine Shop building, so you can demo in the covered area and sell your art work.

Goals

• To educate visitors on the important connections between materials that are mined and the products made with those materials (i.e. jewelry, art, décor, industrial design) and to illustrate the importance of mining in our everyday lives by displaying the products that are produced from mining.

• To illustrate the more dynamic aspects of working with these raw materials through engaging demonstrations and workshops.

• To encourage partnerships. This is a great opportunity for the Museum to support artists and the arts communities by presenting a unique platform through which art can be displayed and sold.

Please include in your proposal

• Contact information
• Outline of the artistic work, including medium and process used, photographs if possible
• How the process will be demonstrated
• Technical requirements (power, water etc.)
• Any other special requirements

Please contact Elena Whitman at ewhitman@bcmm.ca for further information. Please respond early.

Deadline for all proposals is August 5th, 2022
