Bonjour! For the 2024/2025 school year, Britannia Mine Museum is proud to offer our first-ever French Immersion school program package for all grades. This package is available on Mondays and Wednesdays from October-December 2024, and from Monday-Thursdays beginning in January 2025.
Join our DELF B2 certified team member for a facilitated 2-hour program that includes;
Copper Quest - Underground Tour (1 Hour)
Engage in the story of exploration experienced by over 70,00 Museum visitors annually. Copper Quest tells you the story of our long and ongoing search for the red metal with a focus on why and how that occurred at Britannia, culminating in the question of ‘Where will tomorrow’s copper come from?’
BOOM! (30 minutes; available in English exclusively)
An international award winning attraction! Discover a thrilling light, sound and special effects experience inside the historic Mill. BOOM! brings all 20-storeys back to life sharing the Mill's captivating story and its thunderous roar.
Gold Quest (30 minutes)
Give your students a glimpse of some of the realities faced by these prospectors in this ever-popular activity. There is gold in our troughs, but can your students find it?

Lab Program
Legacies (30 Mins)
Always leave a place better than you found it. Here at Britannia, the EPCOR Britannia Mines Water Treatment Plant ensures that Britannia is no longer the great polluter it once was. Instead, Britannia is paving the way in environmental remediation. In Legacies students will examine the process of the water treatment plant. Leaving with an understanding of the importance of having a cleanup plan in place.
Around the Site
Lunch Time (30 Mins)
Book a 30 indoor space for lunch. Alternatively you can choose to eat lunch on the bus, or at nearby Shannon Falls Provincial Park (5 minute drive North).
French Vocabulary
(Kindergarten - Grade 6)
A guided activity to review key French vocabulary that will be used on your tour.
Cancellation Policy
Britannia Mine Museum currently has only 1 Bilingual Historic Interpreter on our team. In the unlikely event of staff illness or absence on the date of your program, the Museum can offer the components of the French Immersion Package in English and you will receive a 50% rebate, or a 100% refund if your school chooses not to proceed with the program. In this event, the guided vocabulary activity will be substituted with exploration time in our exhibits.
