ABOUT US The Britannia Mine Museum is a must-stop destination for your escorted touring experiences or independent vacation packages. We are conveniently located 45 minutes north of Vancouver on the way to Whistler on the beautiful and scenic Sea-to-Sky highway. Britannia Mine Museum offers visitors a fun, family-friendly and educational destination that engages young and old with memorable experiences found nowhere else. There are plenty of things to see and do – from guided underground tours, an award winning film and a live-action show, to self-led exploration of the social history, environmental impacts and remediation of Britannia Beach. UNDERGROUND TOUR Our 30-minute guided tour invites visitors into an authentic haulage tunnel aboard our underground train. Inside, visitors learn about the evolution of copper mining, see live mining machinery demonstrations, and experience what life as a mine was really like. To accommodate appropriate social distancing protocols a maximum of 25 guests in bubble groups of 5 are permitted on tours of The Underground. For groups travelling together when do social distancing is required, we can accommodate up to 35 on a tour BOOM! A LIVE-ACTION EXPERIENCE IN THE HISTORIC MILL BOOM! Introduces audiences to the story, sights, and sounds behind the architectural marvel with an immersive live-action experience inside Mill no.3. The experience involves multiple screens, over thirty speakers, physical and special effects--bringing all 20-storeys of the historic Mill rumbling back to life. Social distancing protocols allow for a maximum of 25 people in bubble groups of 5 to view the 13 minute BOOM! show. In addition to the Underground Tour and BOOM!, admission includes the opportunity to explore the 10 – acre site with its many exhibits and buildings as well as a unique chance to pan for gold! Reservations are required and subject to availability. Tours are offered regularly through the summer but seasonal hours apply for the rest of the year.
