In cases of extreme winter weather, if snow or ice is safely navigable and roads are treated sufficiently (gritted/plowed), then Britannia Mine Museum (BMM) expects schools to come on their booked date.
If roads are impassable or dangerous, then BMM will not charge the Cancellation Fee or No Show Fee, and will rebook you to a date that works for BMM.
The weather forecast will be precise 1-2 days before your field trip booking. Therefore 1-2 days before, if extreme conditions are forecast, likely to mean roads will be impassable or dangerous, do contact our Groups & Education Sales Specialist about not coming and to discuss rearranging the date.
If a school however decides not to come on their booked date, even though snow or ice is safely navigable and roads are treated sufficiently, then BMM will charge the Cancellation Fee or No Show Fee, which is payment in full.
Exhibit Time will be offered in lieu of Gold Panning in severely cold weather.
In the event of unlikely but unforeseen operational issues at either the Britannia Mine Museum or the EPCOR Britannia Mine Water Treatment Plant, where a visit would pose a risk to visitors, staff or property/equipment, Museum Management and EPCOR staff reserve the right to cancel visits at any time. Should this happen, your field trip price will be waived or refunded. Neither Britannia Mine Museum nor EPCOR will be responsible for any costs incurred by the school.
