BC Provincial Mine Rescue & First Aid Competition

The Britannia Mine Museum is hosting the 2024 BC Provincial Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition on June 7 & 8, 2024.

Organized by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation (EMLI) and the Mining Association of BC (MABC), the 66th annual competition maintains and showcases the BC mining industry’s leading and highly specialized health, safety and rescue practices, bringing together mine rescue teams from all over the province to test their emergency response abilities.

The games test the teams’ knowledge of the Western Canada Mine Rescue Manual in three main categories: three-person first aid, surface mine rescue, and underground mine rescue.

Competitions will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Admission to view the competition and well as our lower site exhibits will be complimentary on June 7th and 8th. Please note there will be no BOOM! show and underground tours available on these days.
