Official Statement on Truth and Reconciliation

Britannia Mine Museum conducts its work on the unceded territory of the Skw̲ xwú7mesh Nation. We respectfully honour their culture and tradition.

We support the 94 recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and commit to taking action on recommendations involving museums, culture, arts and education. It is our hope that museums continue to be an integral part of the Truth and Reconciliation journey in this country.

Official Statement on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility

Britannia Mine Museum is committed to fair and equitable treatment, representation and prosperity for all peoples in our communities and our industry. We condemn all forms of racism, discrimination, intolerance, and bigotry and work to use the power of the museum spaces, arts, creativity and self-expression to attain equality and representation for everyone. Britannia Mine Museum is committed to fostering community and organizational wellbeing and actively explores any required changes to our policies, initiatives, and practices to address the root causes of inequalities.

Community Initiatives and Support

A key value for the Museum is to remove social and academic barriers so that we can be accessible for all. Through action and involvement with like-minded local and provincial organizations, we have put into place initiatives that support community benefit.

An important aspect of supporting community benefit is recognizing that the Museum may be financially prohibitive to some segments of the population and while we cannot become free for the public, there are ways we can improve opportunity for those in need.

Britannia Mine Museum Career Tours

Britannia Mine Museum values diversity and quality
relationships.

Career Tours provide career exposure to students and job
seekers who are furthest from opportunity and who may be part of an equity deserving group.

The tours offer participants a chance to visit the Museum,
learn what we do here and hear from employees about their educational and professional pathways.

The Museum invites Employment Skills Training programs to
connect with our People + Culture department to determine if a Career Tour is a fit for you by clicking the link below.
