In cases of extreme winter weather, if snow or ice is safely navigable and roads are treated sufficiently (gritted/plowed), then

Britannia Mine Museum (BMM) expects schools to come on their pre-booked date.

Please visit Drive BC for up to date conditions. Britannia Mine Museum bases its decisions if the road is safe/open or not on this website.

If roads are impassable or dangerous, then BMM will not charge the Cancellation Fee and will rebook you to a later available date.

1-2 days before, if extreme conditions are forecast, likely to mean roads will be impassable or dangerous, do contact our Booking Coordinator about rearranging the date.

We will not cancel or reschedule bookings more than 2 days out due to weather as forecasts are known to change.

If a school decides not to come on their booked date, even though the road is safely navigable, then Britannia Mine Museum will charge the Cancellation Fee or No Show Fee, which is payment in full.

Exhibit Time will be offered in lieu of Gold Panning in severely cold weather.

Operational Issues: In the event of unlikely but unforeseen operational issues at the Britannia Mine Museum, where a visit would pose a risk to visitors, staff or property/equipment, Museum Management reserve the right to cancel or change components of a booking at any time. Should this happen, your field trip price will be waived or refunded. Britannia Mine Museum will not be responsible for any costs incurred by the school should we have to change or cancel a booking due to unforeseen operational issues.

Forest Fires: If a road is closed due to a forest fire, the same policies as for extreme weather will apply. Please visit Drive BC for up to date conditions. Britannia Mine Museum bases its decisions if the road is safe/open or not on this website. If roads are impassable or dangerous, then BMM will not charge the Cancellation Fee or No Show Fee, and will re-book you to a later available date. If the road is open and safe according to Drive BC we to expect schools to come on their booked date.

Covid-19: Should your School District or Board of Directors choose to not allow field trips within BC we will allow schools to cancel or move their booking with no fee. Until your School District implies such regulations our regular cancellation policy will apply.
